Four Swedish kronor/day

20% of the Swedes are not paying their TV-license even though they own a TV-set. Paying it would cost four Swedish kronor a day during a year. For that amount you can watch non-commercial television 24-7 choosing between a number of programs and shows. Jonas Carlkvist is amongst the 80% that actually pay their license. But is it worth it? What kind of entertainment can you actually get for four kronor a day besides watching TV? Does your TV-set provide you with a happier everyday life and are your children really satisfied with sitting in front of it while you are cooking?

Throughout the period of his master thesis Jonas has been entertaining himself and his family every night during the time he usually watches TV, only with that sum of money. In the exhibition Carlkvist shows everything that he made throughout the project––built sculptures, made up games and documentation of playing around with cheap things––and Carlkvist asks himself: did I have more fun in the end? Am I even missing my TV-set that I stowed away in the closet?
