Insulating Compost Wall

Today we are facing a global environmental problem. We produce approximately three kilograms of household waste in a regular household per week. As the handling of this waste consumes energy when transported it has a great impact on the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Enman's solution is very local. To combine the energy saving idea of insulation and the waste reducing idea of composting, she has developed a compost container that in the same time functions as a wall. As the organic material decomposes it also generates heat. When the process is finished the soil can be utilised for the garden through a number of hatches on the outside of the house.
